The former Secretary, Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) Tincan Island chapter, Evang. David Chuks Kanikwu will be laid to rest on Friday 5th February, 2016, Primetime Reporters can authoritatively report.
Kanikwu slumped and died at his Ibadan residence where he had gone to visit his family in December 2015.
According to the funeral programme released by the ANLCA Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Tincan Island chapter, Mr. Emmanuel C. Onyeme, there will be a service of song in Kanikwu’s honour at the ANLCA Tincan Island chapter Secretariat on Tuesday 2nd February, 2016 at 4pm.
Also, there will be a service of song followed by the traditional wake keep at his residence Umuozoma Ogbe-Owelle quarters, Ibusa, Oshimili North LGA of Delta State on Thursday at 5pm and lying in state at his residence on Friday 5th February, 2016 at 8am while funeral service follows immediately at 10am.
The programme further indicated that there will be tradition rites (Okanga) on Saturday 6th February, 2016 at 10am.
Until his death, Kanikwu was a former Chairman, National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Tincan Island chapter, a former Director General of the National Secretariat of ANLCA, former Presidential Liaison Officer (PLO) and lately the secretary of Tin Can Island Chapter.
He was also a recipient of the prestigious Primetime Reporters’ Award of Excellent in November, 2015 shortly before his demise. Kanikwu was recognized by Primetime Reporters Newspapers in recognition of his outspokenness as well as his leading role in championing the course of the Nigerian Maritime industry.
In a release shortly after his death, the Senior Special Assistant to ANLCA President on Media, Mr. Joe Sanni said,” “While his absence will be missed a great deal by the ANLCA family, and indeed the maritime industry, ANLCA takes solace in the fact that God Almighty loves him more.
“ANLCA wished the soul of the departed Chuks Kanikwu an eternal rest”.
