The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) on Friday suspended its PTML chapter Chairman, Chief Goodluck Onunji indefinitely following what it called “administrative reasons”.

Others suspended alongside Chief Onunji are the Secretary of the chapter, Mr. Orji Durkugbo and the Treasurer, Mr. A.C Mbuba.

Chief Onunji whose administration took off on the 27th of March, 2016 is serving his second suspension from the office as the Chairman of NAGAFF in the chapter, the first being in the tail end of 2014 when he was accused of complexity in handling the affairs of the chapter.

The suspended Chairman has been asked to hand-over all NAGAFF materials in his possession to the Vice Chairman Mr. George Okafor who will oversee the chapter for the second time in 2 years.

Although the trio was said to be suspended on “administrative reasons”, investigation by Primetime Reporters revealed that the chapter was supposed to remit the sum of N50,000.00 (fifty thousand naira) to the National Headquarters of NAGAFF which they delayed in doing and when the trio on behalf of the chapter later issued a cheque to the National Headquarters, the cheque bounced thereby drawing the ire of the leadership leading to suspending them for putting the association through hardship.

Our correspondent gathered that although a member volunteered to settle the bill even with an interest charged on the original money by the National headquarters by cash, the action did not change anything as the leadership of NAGAFF were hell bent on suspending the trio.

As at the time of filing this report, it was not clear what the N50, 000.00 in contention was for.

Meanwhile, Chief Onunji who was said to be absent at the meeting where the decision to suspend him and the two others were taken but only appeared at the venue of the meeting when the meeting was over was sighted at the PTML Customs Area Command chatting away his time while the treasurer, Mr. Mbuba was seen making consultations as regards the next action to take so as to overturn his suspension.
