The Zonal Coordinator Zone A of the Nigeria Customs Service, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs (ACG) Charles Eporwei Edike will today visit the headquarters of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) at 12 noon.

The National Public Relations Officer (PRO) of NAGAFF, Mr. Stanley Ezenga who cited a letter signed by DC D. Yisa-Omogbehin in a press release he issued on Monday in Lagos stated that ACG Edike who supervised Customs operations in the entire South West Customs Area Commands would be visiting NAGAFF as part of his familiarization tour of important locations in the areas under his supervision.

According to Ezenga, DC Yisa-Omogbehin submitted further that the courtesy visit was also in recognition of the existing good working relationship between the Nigeria Customs and NAGAFF as well as other major stakeholders in the industry.

He recalled that ACG Edike who had served in various Commands of the Western Operations as an Area Comptroller was very conversant and familiar with the state of affairs on matters of Customs functions thereto in the nation’s ports systems, management and administration.

“At the moment, the biggest problem facing Customs formalities is the attitude of people against the administration of Customs laws.  The importing traders and Licensed Customs Agents other than professional freight forwarding companies and individuals are the headache of the Nigerian Customs operations for their non compliant attitude to import and export regulations.

“It is the firm belief of the Anti-Corruption Committee of NAGAF that it shall gain support and momentum after the visit of the ACG to NAGAFF Headquarters because of his penchant for integrity and compliance in Customs matters”, he said.
