The Management of the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) has assured stakeholders that it would not relent in its efforts at ensuring optimal utilization of the organization’ facilities at all location with a view to generating greater dividends for the country through the seaports.

The Managing Director of NPA, Ms Hadiza Bala Usman made this statement when the Executive Management of the NPA embarked on the inspection of the vast facilities of the organization at Tarkwa Bay location.

The NPA Chief Executive identified the possibility of green field development and foreign direct investments at the location especially through the window of Public Private Partnership (PPP) across board.

Similarly she postulated that the NPA Management would not hesitate in rehabilitating the Lagos Light House at Tarkwa Bay in order to prioritize the possibility of deploying an Automatic Identification System (AIS) at the location.

This she said would enhance smooth navigation to approaches of Lagos ports by vessels calling at the Ports.

Usman was also of the view that the revitalization of Tarkwa Bay and optimal use of the facilities there would create more employment opportunities thereby reducing inflationary rate.

She stated that this would stimulate economic growth in the country.

The NPA MD stated that the Executive Management of the organization was in dialogue with stakeholders with a view to ensuring further encumbrances on the facility would be resolved forthwith.

She added that there would be mutual understanding and a better enabling environment for businesses to thrive at the location.

The high point of the event was the location assessment of Inagbe Grand Resort facility and Estate – a typical direct Public Private Partnership (PPP) investment effort within the Tarkwa Bay environment.

The Executive Directors for Marine and Operations, Dr. Sokonte Huttin Davies, Engineering and Technical Services, Prof. Idris Abubarkar and Finance and Administration, Mohammed Bello Koko were on board to support the NPA’s Chief Executive during the assignment.

Other top Management on the entourage were the General Managers, Western Ports, Abiodun Gbadamosi, Physical Planning and Development, Engr. Rufai Mohammed and Public Affairs, Elder Uduonofit Effiong amongst others.
