In its renewed vigour to tackle criminality in Lagos state, the Lagos State Police command has arrested five suspects in Egbeda area of the state for alleged armed robbery.

Parading the suspects before newsmen in Lagos on Wednesday, the acting Commissioner of Police, Lagos state, Mr. Edgal Imohimi said that their arrest was made possible following a credible information to the police.

“On the 6th of September, 2017 at about 04.30 hours, based on strong information, personnel of our special anti robbery squad from the command headquarters moved into Egbeda Lagos, they were led by an Assistant Superintendent of Police. Following police activities carried out at Egbeda, five notorious armed robbery suspects namely; Musbau Gbadamosi, Male, Kehinde Jimoh, Male, Ayorinde Ibile, Male, Adekunle Rasheed, Male, Ayodele Ojo, Male were arrested. All the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation.

“Recovered from these suspects are the following; one pump action gun, serviceable, four single barrel guns, serviceable, functional, twenty-two live carriages and two expended carriages. It is my believe that with the bursting of this notorious gang that has been terrorizing Egbeda and environs, the good people of that area will now sleep with their two eyes closed”, he said.

Imohimi also pointed out that on the 13th of August, 2017 at about 2200hrs, one Desmond Jacob and Anele Kate of No.14 Olasunroye street, Ijegun Satellite were on their way home to No. 26 Close Satellite town when three armed men swooped on them and robbed them of their Infinix Hot 4 Phone and the sum of N38,000.

“However, based on collaboration with members of the public who were there and vigilant, the police were alerted and eventually, two suspects, one Michael David and one other were arrested. One locally made double barrel pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from them.

“This neighborhood hoodlums as I like to call them who rob innocent men and women to and fro work like others will be properly investigated and diligently prosecuted”, he added.

He continued,”In addition, this is another clear case of conspiracy and armed robbery and it was reported from Isheri-Osun on the 3rd of September, 2017. Upon receipt of the complaint, the operatives from our special anti robbery squad swung into action and the suspect involved, one Taye Adelowo and one Lekan his accomplice who is now at large, all of No. 1 Mohammed Lawal street, Isheri-Osun has been arrested and are being interrogated.

“One Lon cutlass with blood stains which they obviously used in committing the crime was recovered. All effort is being made to ensure that the said Lekan who is at large is arrested to join Taye Adelowo for proper prosecution”.
