Members of the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) have warned that unless something drastic is promptly done to increase the freight rate, they will be left with no choice than to park their trucks as they cannot continue to run at a loss. Metro Times’ reporter based in Anambra, Solomon Musa has been violently attacked by hoodlums in Isu-Aniocha, Awka North Local Government Area. Musa was attacked on February 5 when he went to deliver a documentary tape in the community. Narrating his ordeal, Musa said the hoodlums appeared from different directions with weapons and start shooting in the air. One of them placed a pistol on his forehead then began beating him up. Troops of Nigerian Army (NA) have neutralized four gunmen suspected to be members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra/Eastern Security Network at Ihiala town in Anambra State. The Acting Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has urged arbitrators to ensure quick and speedy resolution of disputes in the maritime industry noting that failure to promptly address perceived grievances will be inimical to the growth and development of the sector. Manpower development in the Nigeria maritime industry is set to be enhanced with the planned reopening of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA)’s training school following the renovation of the facility after years of being abandoned.
