…Seeks Shippers’ Council intervention to revamp activities A group of licensed customs agents under the aegis of Advocacy for Maritime Development Association (AMDA) on Wednesday disclosed that the importers and agents lose a whooping N500 million daily over the suspension of stripping activities at the bonded terminals within Tin Can Island Port Complex, Lagos. The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has deployed the recently recruited Water Guard Officers to various jetties and terminals within the state inland waterways. A statement released recently by the General Manager, LASWA, Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, said the newly employed officers are to boost the operational outreach of the agency. According to Emmanuel, they have been deployed to jetties where there are inadequate personnel and areas with no LASWA presence.
