Worried by the incessant blocking of cargoes duly cleared from the seaports by different Police formations, a coalition of freight forwarding associations, traders and shippers has said that it will be having audience with the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu to state its fact on the matter. In an attempt to forestall barge accidents caused by operators on the Lagos waterways, a joint inspection team of the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), the Nigeria Maritime Administration Safety Agency (NIMASA) and the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) went on joint inspection and  enforcement exercise yesterday around the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal to detain barges with uncertified crew members and also to shut down unlicensed container terminals around the axis. Yet to be identified gunmen today attacked the court duty vehicle of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Anambra State at Nanka while conveying inmates back from court to the Aguata custodial centre. The attackers killed the Corrections officer and whisked away the inmate being taken back to the custodial Centre.
