Search and Rescue personnel of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) in conjunction with officers and men of the Nigerian Navy have apprehended 16 stowaways on a United States bound vessel, MV Colombia River. The arrest which was effected on Friday November 4, 2016 at the Lagos fairway bouy was sequel to a distress signal sent to the Regional Search and Rescue Coordination Centre based in NIMASA which in turn alerted the Nigerian Navy. The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has said that it has recorded 35% performance in the implementation of the 2016 budget between the period of January and September 2016.
