The Ports and Terminal Multiservice Limited (PTML) Chapter Chairman of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Chief Goodluck Onunji was at the weekend conferred with the prestigious Doctor of Philosophy in Business administration, Honoris causa of the Cornerstone University and Theological Seminary (CUTS), Jerusalem, Israel.
Also conferred with the award alongside Chief Onunji and the former Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Arc. Terver Gemade is the Area Commander of the Area B Command of the Nigeria Police, Apapa, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ndubueze I. M Anene.
Speaking in an opening address, the President of Ambassadors Theological Seminary Nigeria and Lagos Campus of Cornerstone University and Theological Seminary, Jerusalem, Israel and the United States of America, Rev. Dr. Valentine Iheukwumere said that the choice of the trio was informed by their contributions towards the building of the African Regional Campus Headquarters.
Iheukwumere further stated that the awardees had been instrumental to scholarships some students enjoyed as they studied at the University adding that the purpose of the award was to gather patrons, fathers, mothers and matrons who would stand by the University in terms of need.
“So, do not be embarrassed if you are called upon for assistance. CUTS is now your school. You are now our patron”, he said.
Responding, the NAGAFF Chairman PTML Chapter, Chief Goodluck Onunji attributed the award to hard work, prayer and steadfastness to God as well as his disposition to his fellow human beings adding that nothing stops until God says so.
He said, “it is good to be good. What we are doing here today by the grace of God, many of us are going home with a lot of blessings because things don’t only stop with money. Humility to your fellow human being, hard work, be prayerful, don’t feel that the world has come to an end. Nothing stops until God says it has stopped”.
While reminding others that whatever they were doing, they were not doing for themselves rather they should extend same to others around them, he pledged to use the award as a launch pad to do more for the institution.
“So, my President Sir, all members of the Cornerstone University, please, I didn’t come up to stop by the road side, I just see myself as one of your patrons and I promise you that whatever I have been doing, I may not stand here to mention but all am telling you is that God will use me to continue his good work in this institution”, Onunji stated.
On his part, the Area Commander, Area B Headquarters, Apapa, ACP NIM Anene expressed appreciation to God for the award saying that he had earlier enrolled for a doctorate degree programme at the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka about 25 years ago but could not complete it due to exigencies of his work.
“But for pressure of work, after enrolment, after about a year, I left the University of Nigeria, Nsukka to join the Police, the trainings and all the postings you heard in my citation never gave me a chance to continue”.
“And today, I will tell you it is like a dream come true after 25 years of wanting to have it at UNN and today and here and now, I have been told, it is done. To God be the glory”.
