The Nigeria Customs Service PTML Area Command has assured the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) that its proposed Chapter Secretariat at the PTML had received the maximum attention and approval of the Command’s management.
The Customs Area Controller of the Command (CAC), Comptroller Talatu Isa who disclosed this when the National Officers of the association led by its National President, Prince Olayiwola Shittu paid her courtesy visit at the command also said that the design had been forwarded to the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
Isa emphasized that as soon as approval was granted by NPA, no stone would be left unturned towards the realization of the project even as she disclosed that the promise was in line with her resolve at ensuring that all stakeholders were carried along in her drive to sustain the rising revenue profile of the command.
She disclosed that the Valuation unit which had been a sour point in the operation of the command had been addressed in the management meeting of the command promising that a new look Valuation Unit was assured.
Responding, the National President of ANLCA, Prince Olayiwola Shittu commended the efforts of the CAC for the physical transformation of the working environment of the command in such a short time to the acknowledgement of everyone.
Prince Shittu observed that he was willing to be part of the CAC’s efforts at shoring up the revenue profile of the Nigeria customs as well as making sure that all stakeholders were appropriately catered for.
He advised the CAC to always reach out to his office whenever she perceived that issues were about to get out of her control.
In a related development, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Grimaldi, Mr. Rosso has also pledged to support the actualization of a secretariat for ANLCA in the chapter even as he unfolded his plans towards beautifying the environment of PTML.
Mr. Rosso who made this known when the National officers of ANLCA paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Lagos was however unhappy with the continued infiltration of the customs brokerage as a profession despite efforts at automating the transactions at the PTML pleading with the National President to work hard on ways and means of checkmating the nuisance.
He thereafter congratulated ANLCA for the World Customs Organization’s award conferred on the association recently.
On his part, the National President of ANLCA, Prince Olayiwola Shittu congratulated Mr. Rosso on his giant strides at the terminal urging him to continue to blaze the trail of an efficient terminal operation for others to follow.
He pleaded with the management to sustain the collabotarive efforts existing between his organization and customs agents because it is the best for Nigeria.
