The National President, Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Prince Olayiwola Shittu has described the passion that all members of the ANLCA have in getting the association on its right footing as the reason behind frequent disagreement within the association.
Speaking at a forum in Lagos, Shittu also said that the challenge facing members of ANLCA was that of maintaining the level which the association has attained in recent time pointing out that there were distractions and drag downs from different quarters even as he posited that such disagreements were what made the association thick.
According to him,” the passion that all ANLCA members have is the reason why we have disagreement because we are looking at ANLCA from different sides. You know that they used to say those days that perception leads to cognition, what you see goes into your brain and it deciphers”.
“The challenge we are having in ANLCA is maintaining the level we have attained. There are too many distractions, there are too many drag downs within and without including those who established associations as business, those who are founders because almost all other associations have founders alive but those associations were established for a purpose, just to earn money”.
“ANLCA is an association that whether you like it or not, day of reckoning must come. It is either you want a second tenure, you can be denied, it is either you want to come and stand for an election they say no because people are watching you and it is only ANLCA that has what is called auditing by the end of term. So wherever you want to run to, we are establishing a professional body”.
“We can disagree, we can quarrel, we can fight, that is the vicissitude of life but if we quarrel, let bus start solving that quarrel from within not without”.
He reminded the members of the association that life was meant to be lived with the mindset that once one departs, there is no return journey because nobody has done a second term of life adding that whatever one does, he should always remember that one day, he will pass on and his name will be there.
