As Nigerians await the nomination of the Ministers that would help President Buhari administer the Nigerian economy, a financial expert, Mr. Johnson Chukwu has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that he appoints a Minister who has a basic knowledge of the local economy to head the Ministry of Finance.

Chukwu who gave this advice in an interview with Primetime Reporters in Lagos said such a person should understand the nuances of the local economy and has sound political knowledge or what he called the social intelligence so as to understand the social structure of the economy.

He said,” Well, I expect a person that has a sound macroeconomic knowledge. I expect to see somebody that has strong leadership traits. I expect the person to have strong personality. When I say strong personality, I mean a person that knows clearly his normal level. I expect a person who has a clear vision of the economic direction the country should go, where the country should be and has the basic experience of the local economy, that understands the nuance of the Nigerian local economy”.

“And where economic policies come into conflict with political policies, policies that uphold politics over and above the economy, you should have a Minister who understands the nuances of politicians and the Nigerian politics to be able to build economic policies that can resist political pressures”.
