As part of its commitment to improve the oral wellness of Nigerians, Procter & Gamble’s oral care brand, Oral-B has entered into partnership with the Nigerian Dental Association to grow the capacity of Nigerian dentists.

Folarin Ojo, Brand Manager for Oral-B, who made this disclosure at a two-day capacity building workshop for dentists held recently in Lagos, said the workshop was part of the brand’s professional detailing programme aimed at ensuring that dentists were in tune with the latest trend and development in oral care.

“It is important that the dental care profession enjoys steady development to enable Nigerians access to qualitative oral health care at all times, and this contractual relationship with the Nigeria Dental Association will assist in educating Nigerian dentists in the latest innovations in oral health care,” he said.

He informed that this initiative, which was facilitated through Oral B’s dental detailing programme, would also assist the beneficiaries in gaining the required continuous professional development (CPD) points to allow them stay in the professional practice.

One of the highlights of the two-day capacity building workshop was the exposure to dentists of the revolutionary and multipurpose benefits of stabilized stannous toothpastes with references to the research results on Stannuos Fluoride with Nigerian patients.

Ojo further informed that the research that culminated into the development of Oral-B toothpaste was a demonstration of P&G’s aim of improving Nigerians’ oral health status.

According to him, “Oral-B is a result of over fifteen years of rigorous research and consumer insight, borne out of our desire to deliver a top-notch oral care to Nigerians. It is the first toothpaste brand in Nigeria to have the legendary stannous fluoride with its attendant benefits.”

The Oral B dental detailing program has reached and educated over 2000 dentists since its introduction in 2011; updating them with the latest development in the field of dentistry whilst serving as a strong support in their career growth.
