The Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero has enjoined youths in the country to champion the vanguard of positive change in the society rather than engaging in social vices which always tarnish their image and dampen their potentials.

Stressing that the future and greatness of the country lies in the vibrancy and resourcefulness of its youths, the Managing Director urged the youths as future leaders of the country not to engage themselves in the vices of cultism, violence, alcoholism or tribalism.

Mallam Lamido Ado Bayero was speaking in Lagos yesterday when he received dual merit awards as Agent of Societal Transformation and icon of Integrity conferred on him by the members of the global National Association of Oduduwa Students (NAOS).

“As the future leaders of our great nation, I expect you to be the vanguards of positive change our society desires. To do so, you must eschew the social vices of cultism, violence, alcoholism or tribalism. You must be united, encourage peaceful co-existence and harmony”, he said.

The Managing Director said it was always the wish of the nation’s foundingfathers to live together, therefore, the nation’s youth should strive to remove all ethnic barriers that threatened their unity adding that that was the way that their collective potentials would be fully utilized and collectively proffer practical solutions to the numerous problems bedeviling the society.

While counseling the youths to keep a good connection with their Creator and maintain a good sense of decency in their lives, Mallam Lamido Ado Bayero explained that the nation’s youth should identify with their global counterparts in the search for genuine global peace and an end to violence, terrorism and wars for the greater benefit of humanity.

The Managing Director who expressed delight to the NAOS for considering him worthy of the awards, said the Yoruba race should consider themselves lucky for their ancestry spread in all continents of the world.

Earlier, the NAOS National president, Comrade Adekunle Michael Adeniyi said MalamLamido Ado Bayero was conferred with the award as a successful legal practitioner, astute administrator, a bureaucrat of manifold capacities and a compassionate humanitarian.

Highlight of the occasion was the conferment of the NAOS awards on the Managing Director, his decoration with the regalia and presentation of plaque.
