A factional President of the National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents (NCMDLCA), Chief Festus Ejiofor has written to the Registrar, Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), Sir Mike Jukwe alleging plots by some elements to scuttle the peace currently enjoyed by members of the NCMDLCA.

In his letter to Jukwe dated January 26, 2016 with the title,” Security Alert” and made available to Primetime Reporters in Lagos Monday, Ejiofor alleged that an illegal meeting of the National Council of Managing Director of Licensed Customs Agents was called and held in NAGAFF Village on the 22nd of January, 2016by Chief Austin Kelly and others where they threatened to conduct and election in the association.

He noted that the essence of the letter was to bring to the notice of the Registrar what he called insidious and highly inciting action capable of setting the peace loving members of the council against one another which he said may lead to breakdown of law and order at the nation’s seaports.

According to him,” May we formally bring to your attention that an illegal meeting of the National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents was called and held in NAGAFF Village on the 22nd of January, 2016b by Dr. B. O Aniebonam, Chief Austin Kelly and others wherein they had threatened to conduct an election in our association. Please note that similar meeting was equally held on the 9th October, 2012 under the Chairmanship of Dr. Boniface Aniebonam and founder of NAGAFF, an accredited freight forwarding association under your regulation. Evidence is herewith attached.

“We are compelled to bring to your notice this insidious and highly inciting action capable of setting our peace loving members against one another which may lead to the breakdown of law and order in our ports and gateways to the Nigerian economy.

“You will recall that since the inception of this present National Council administration in 2009, we have had to contend with multiple court cases instituted by Mr. Lucky Amiwero, our former President which we are yet to abet though with (3) three court victories and (2) still outstanding at Igbosere Magistrate Court and federal High Court Ikoyi respectively, all these have been at a very enormous litigation costs and inconveniences to the day to day administration of National Council under my watch.

“Sir, you will equally recollect all efforts made by Dr. Aniebonam towards collapsing the National Council and ensuring that it is never accredited. We therefore wonder what his interest must be that is propelling him into converting an accredited freight forwarding associations quite distinct from NAGAFF he founded to his portfolio. His unbridled quest to control all freight forwarding associations and by extension the entire maritime industry must be checked to avert a monumental anarchy such action portends. Please find attached press release of the latest meeting signed by one self acclaimed BoT Chairman, Austin Kelly which is self explanatory”.
