Following the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, the new acting Commissioner of Police, Lagos state Police command, Mr. Imohimi Edgal has resumed duty at the command headquarters at Ikeja, Lagos.
A statement issued in Lagos on Thursday by the command’s spokesman, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole revealed that the new acting Commissioner had taken over and resumed in the official capacity as the commissioner of police Lagos state with immediate effect.
The statement also said that the formal handover ceremony between the incoming and outgoing commissioners was going on smoothly.
The statement reads,”The Inspector General of Police Ibrahim. K Idris has ordered the posting of the following Compol: Ag/COMPOL IMOHIMI D. EDGAL to Lagos state Police command has the new Commissioner of police.
“Ag/CP Edgal Imohimi has taken over and resumed official capacity as the commissioner of police Lagos state police command with immediate effect.
“While formal handing and taking over notes is going on smoothly between the former and the present Lagos state CP”.
It will be recalled that the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, few days ago appointed, Imohimi Edgal, as the new Commissioner of Police for the Lagos State Command.
The development was necessitated by Edgal’s recent promotion to the rank of Commissioner by the Police Service Commission.
Edgal, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in-charge-of Operations, in Lagos State, until his promotion was instrumental in ending activities of the dreaded Badoo cult and militants carrying out kidnappings within Ikorodu and its adjoining communities.
He joined tha services of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, on February 2, 1986, serving in various commands and formations of the NPF within the country in several capacities, spending most of his days at the Lagos State Police Command.
