The association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) yesterday apologized to the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) over a statement credited to it which insinuated that it alleged that over N5 billion budgetary allocation to the council was unaccounted for.

In a letter dated August 21, 2017 and signed by Ayodele Olaniyi Esq.on behalf of the association, ANLCA claimed it was quoted out of context by the media and that the story was sensationalized.

It maintained that the information in respect of the said amount emanated from the Senate Committee on Budget and Planning and not from the association.

The association while regretting any omission or harm the said statement may have caused the council, however apologized to the CRFFN and consequently, retracted the statement.

The letter reads,”We refer to the above caption and your letter in respect of the same dated 16th day of August, 2017. We are solicitors holding brief for the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), we have their firm instruction to write you accordingly.

“Your letter in respect of the above subject matter was carefully perused by our client and we have their instruction to state categorically that the association was quoted out of context, the information in respect of the subject matter emanated from the Senate Committee on Budget and Planning and not from ANLCA President or any of its members.

“The association regrets any omission or harm the statement might have done to the council as it was not intentional and never calculated to smear the image of CRFFN, it was the press that quoted out of context and sensationalize the story.

“Accept our client’s sincere apology, hence the said statement is hereby retracted”.
