United Nations decorates Obiano as leading champion on Sustainable Development Goals

The Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator of the United Nations System in Nigeria, Edward Kallon decorated Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano as a leading Champion on Sustainable Development Goals.

Edward Kallon is with the United Nations Country Team in Awka, Anambra State for their 2017 Annual Development Partners Retreat which held at Best Western Meloch Hotel.

Emphasizing that the choice of Anambra for this year’s retreat was anchored on the safe and peaceful atmosphere, Kallon said, “Our being here is an indication of the strong partnership between the United Nations and Anambra State.

“Gov. Obiano is a champion of Sustainable Development Goals. In Obiano, I saw a leader leading with SDGs.

“Gov. Obiano is managing one of the most progressive states in Nigeria with the lowest poverty rate. His leadership is showing in further reduction of Poverty, Education, Health and Peaceful coexistence amongst others.

“I was thrilled by his readiness after seeing his Pillars and Enablers.Gov. Obiano is already ahead in a lot of areas.We will help nurture his vision, leadership and development aspirations for the State and his people”.

Gov. Obiano before his decoration, delivered a welcome address and declared the retreat open.
