Two officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Felicia Obembe and Sergeant Blessing Okurube yesterday received keys to their bungalows at the newly commissioned Muhammadu Buhari Police Housing Estate in Badagry, Lagos State.

Handing over the keys to the beneficiaries, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris charged the officers to make good use of the properties as well as to put in their best in applying best practices in dealing with the citizenry with total loyalty to the country.
He said,”The welfare of policemen especially rank and file is uppermost in my agenda for a more functional, proactive and result orientated police force. Consequently, I enjoin you to be at your best, applying best practices in our dealings with the teeming populace with total loyalty to our dear nation.
“While I commend the Police Co-operative Society and our partners for making this vision a dream come true, I want to wish you a safe trip to your various destinations”.
In his speech, the Commissioner of Police Co-operative, CP Shola David noted that the 28th day of September, 2017 was a remarkable day in the history of the Nigeria Police as they witness yet another epoch making event in the administration of IGP Ibrahim Idris which was aimed at enhancing the welfare of police officers especially the Inspectors and rank and file.
Shola posited that honour must be given to the IGP who on assumption of duty promised to enhance the welfare of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police.
“It is in fulfillment of his promise and commitment that he is here to commission the first phase of this housing scheme. This will no doubt improve the welfare of officers and men and this will no doubt enhance their productivity.
“The onus is now on us officers and men to redouble our effort and be more committed in the performance of our duties especially the beneficiaries of this housing estate because to who much is given, much is expected”, he added.
Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of Remax Realtors Nigeria Limited the contracting firm that built the estate, Mrs. Funke Adesoji disclosed that the company had worked with the management of the Nigeria Police Force Multipurpose Co-operative Society to provide 300 bedroom flats at Idimu, Lagos which was commissioned by the former President and was named after former President Goodluck Jonathan.

“Sir, we at Remax decided to honour you specially today by naming the main artery road in this estate after your humble self and in recognition of our traditional rulers, we have also named one of the roads after the Oba of Badagry, the Akran of Badagry and the one opposite it after the Etsu Nupe.
“I can’t end my speech without thanking our financial backers, I will like to thank especially the Stanbic-IBTC bank who gave initial financing of over N1 billion to start the project.
