The Lagos State Police command has debunked insinuations in some sections of the media that the former Commissioner of Police in charge of the command, CP Fatai Owoseni refused to hand over the affairs of the command to the new Commissioner of Police, describing it as false.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole who debunked the insinuation in a statement he issued in Lagos yesterday said that CP Owoseni had handed over to the new Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal.
According to Famous-Cole,”The Lagos state police command wishes to inform members of the public that CP Fatai Owoseni has handed over to the new commissioner of police Lagos state police command to Ag/COMPOL Edgal Imohimi.
“The command would like to state that at no point in time did the former CP Lagos state refuse to obey the lawful directives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris by handing over to his successor.
“CP Fatai Owoseni wishes the officers and men of the command all the best under the leadership of the Commissioner of police Lagos state, Ag/COMPOL Edgal Imohimi at the officer’s mess, a conference of Senior Officers, Area Commander’s DPOs and HODs were all present today 31st August 2017.”
He noted that the former Commissioner in his official brief, charged officers to extend the same commitment and dedication to duty which he enjoyed during his stay with them to the new Commissioner of Police so as to continue to make Lagos state peaceful and crime free.
On his part, the new Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police command, acting Commissioner of Police Imohimi Edgal who had a quick security brief with the officers for the public holidays, warned officers to ensure that the Sallah break is hitch free with robust police visibility.
He also told Area commanders and DPOs to confine their officers and men to the barrack for effective policing during the festive period.
