The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) yesterday lifted ban on electioneering campaign for the 2018 chapter elections.
The association also used the occasion to unveil the electoral guidelines for the conduct of the said elections.
The modified electoral guidelines released yesterday by the NAGAFF Electoral Commission (NECOM) showed that the nomination form for the Chairmanship position in Apapa, TCIP, Onne, PTML and Airport chapters goes for N500,000, the Vice Chairman goes for N200,000 while other positions go for N100,000. The Chairmanship nomination form for the Ijora, Seme and KLT chapters goes for N200,000, Vice Chairman N100,000 while others go for N50,000.
Also, the nomination form for Chairmanship position in Idiroko, Ikorodu, PH Area 1 and 2, Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Abuja, Enugu Airport, Kano Airport, Katsina (Jibia Border), Kwara, Kongolam Border and other chapters is N100,000, Vice Chairman N50,000 while others are for N25,000.
Speaking at the unveiling of the electoral guidelines and campaign flag off at the NAGAFF headquarters, the Chairman of the NAGAFF Electoral Commission (NECOM), Forwarder Okey Nerus Uchegbu said that one must be a registered member of the association to vote and be voted for.
Uchegbu added that all that intending members who were yet to regularize their membership of the association needed to do was for them to obtain a membership registration form at the cost of N7,500 payable at the NAGAFF’s UBA account, fill the form and submit and come along with the receipt of payment on the day of screening as a proof of payment for them to be attended to.
According to him,”For those who don’t have this or who probably have misplaced it, if you can show us the evidence of payment for NAGAFF membership, then it makes you eligible but if you don’t have it, then you have a lot of time between now and then when we will call you for screening, it is expected that you would have gone to regularize your membership of NAGAFF. Of course, our Ad-hoc staff will be seated here from tomorrow (today).
“Now, after having regularize your membership of NAGAFF, the next thing we expect you to do is that you now go straight for your CRFFN full membership registration. Recall that at the last election, the management team of NAGAFF. gave a waiver, that for the purposes of the last election, people who have kick started the process of registering with the CRFFN were eligible to vote and be voted for. So, at that point, your N5,400 payment was acceptable to NECOM but this time around, NAGAFF is laying emphasis on full registration of CRFFN.
“Incidentally, CRFFN resumed here at the headquarters since yesterday and they will be here up until after the election. So, you don’t have any excuse, if you can’t go to their office, please meet them at the Board office, they are there to attend to you at any point in time. You must also pay the annual subscription for 2017”.
He further informed that for anybody to contest in the forthcoming election, such a person must have gone through the NAGAFF Academy or any of the affiliate institutions to acquire freight forwarding education adding that NAGAFF wants quality leadership this time around as it no longer have rooms for mediocre.
