The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano and his Lagos State counterpart, Akinwunmi Ambode will be among the dignitaries at the 2017 edition of the Association of Anambra State Development Union (AASDU) Lagos Lecture and Award day.

Slated to hold on Saturday, 14th October, 2017 at the Shell Hall, Muson Centre, Onikan Lagos at 3:00pm, the lecture with the theme: “The Place of Igbo Nation in the Political, Social and Economic Equation in a Restructured Nigeria”, will be delivered by a renowned jurist, Chief Olisa Agbakoba SAN.

The event which will be Chaired by the Special Adviser to the Honorable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Chukwuemeka Ifezulike FCA will also feature presentation of awards to some deserving Nigerians among whom are the wife of the Governor of Anambra state, Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano, HRH Ben Emeka, Engr. Emeka Ezeh OFR, Chief Chika Okafor (Chikason) and Dan Chukwudozie.

Others are; Dr. Felicia Okoye, Dr. Godwin Maduka, Dr. Foster Ezenewehijiofor, Chief Engr. Innocent Akuvue, Clem Nwogbo, Prince Obi Nnebe, Chief Chidi Anyaegbu, Chief Chris Ikechi Ezeh and Chief Hyacinth Maduagwu.

Also on the list are; Chief Emmanuel Orjichukwu, Sir Maxwell Okoli, Basil Ojukwu, Chief Amobi Ike, Chief Ugochukwu Okparaeke, HRH Igwe Dr. M.A Ugochukwu, Hon. Emma Oghene Egoh, Chris Ubosi, Steve Ugochukwu Onukwube (Yaw), Gen. Alex Maduebo (Rtd.) and Barr. Allen Onyema.

Speaking on the event, the President AASDU, Chief Barr. Vincent Osakwe noted that the programme seeks to reward some deserving citizens of Anambra state and some friends of the state for their immense contributions to the society as well as to generate fund for the Skills Acquisition Centre they proposed to build in Anambra state.

Osakwe hinted that the centre was conceived following the increasing rate of youth restiveness in the southeast region of the country having felt that the restiveness was as a result of high rate of unemployment.

According to him, “We felt that with the establishment of the Skills Acquisition Centre, that we will be able to engage them properly and then with their graduation from the centre, majority of them will have something to fall back on and also specialize in a particular trade that will also engage them in production of quality goods and these days of export, that will also benefit them and members of their families and that is the essence and crux of the matter”.

He disclosed that the programme was going to be unique because the last time they had the event of this nature was in November 2, 2013 adding that, “since that time, there were little challenges within the association and that challenges have been resolved hence this particular event. It is unique in the sense that people chosen for the awards are men who have distinguished themselves in different aspects of life and also have touched lives of average persons within the society”.

The AASDU boss however said that the event is essentially for invited guests who would be able to donate to the proposed Skills Acquisition Centre at the end of the day.
