The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has called on the new National President of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Hon. Tony Iju Nwabunike to build upon the exploits and the success story of Prince Olayiwola Shittu’s administration of friendship and responsible partnership.
The Head, Special Duties, NAGAFF Headquarters, Rev. Emmanuel Agubanze who gave this counsel in a release he issued in Lagos on Friday further advised the new leadership of ANLCA to distance itself from certain individuals and in particular from the Eastern blocks whose thought he said was usually to dictate in the management and administration of ANLCA.
Agubanze noted that a situation wherein they may have been canvassing that the new leadership of ANLCA should be careful with unholy alliance with sister associations was to say the least, a booby trap for the new administration.
“And for the avoidance of doubt, it is on record and a fact that by 2019, NAGAFF shall clock 20 years of existence and operations. Aside from the Constitutional right of NAGAFF to exist, it is like a ranting of an ant for anybody or Freight Forwarding Association to think that he/she can stop NAGAFF movement to enthroning professionalism in the business of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria.
“The good news and hope for the new leadership of ANLCA is to state that they have started well by telling their Chapter Executives in the Western Zone to cooperate with NAGAFF at their various Chapters. It is our hope that the Tony Iju-led administration shall build upon the exploits and success story of Prince Olayiwola Shittu administration of friendship and responsible partnership. We in NAGAFF shall continue to see Prince Olayiwola Shittu as a wise man at all times because during his tenure he realized that his pursuit should be ANLCA interest first and collaboration with other existing structures.
“Prince Shittu was reported as telling ANLCA members that he cannot continue to fight over NAGAFF existence to avoid breaching the Constitution and more so that NAGAFF has in real sense grown and expanded in space and numbers, more than any other Freight Forwarding/Licensed Customs Agents Association in Nigeria.
“The immediate past President of ANLCA was further reported to have stated that if his predecessors could not stop NAGAFF, it shall be like “hitting one’s head against the rock” by fighting NAGAFF for no good reasons. He therefore concluded that it shall be a self-inflicted distraction on the part of his leadership in ANLCA to engage NAGAFF against the Nigerian Constitution”, he said.
He however recalled that under Prince Shittu as the leader of ANLCA, there was an exchange of visits to the headquarters of both Associations even as he described Prince Shittu as the greatest thing that had happened to ANLCA in terms of leadership quality and wisdom hoping that Hon. Tony Iju Nwabunike would build on it.
