The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in-charge of Maritime Police Command, Alkali Baba Usman will today pay a working visit to the National Headquarters of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), located at No. 2A Maybin Road, GRA Apapa, Lagos at 11am.

A statement issued in Lagos yesterday by the National Publicity Secretary of NAGAFF, Mr. Stanley Ezenga said that the working visit was in continuation of AIG’s effort to meet with the critical stakeholders with a view to ensuring responsible partnership in the general security and safety of the ports, people and the environs.

“It is on record that NAGAFF has been exceptionally the most responsible partners of the various Government Agencies and parasatals detailed to oversee ports operations and management.  You will recall that the Comptroller General of Customs, the Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority, the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Shippers’ Council and the Director General of Standards Organisation of Nigeria had earlier paid similar official visit to NAGAFF Headquarters.

“It is the expectation of NAGAFF that the AIG shall be presented with various matters connected to corruption in the ports, access in and out of the ports and various breaches of Ports Orders.

“Others shall include the ongoing harassment, intimidation and extortion of money from the practitioners along the city road of Lagos by various agents of Government in the course of our duty, more so, the incessant blocking of containers through the shipping companies manifest by unauthorized Government Agencies”, the statement read.
