LASWA recovers body of man who jumped into lagoon

The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has recovered the body of the man who allegedly jumped into the Lagos lagoon on Friday morning.

A statement by the LASWA management indicated that following a distress call received by the emergency rescue unit of Authority on Friday at about 10.30am of a man who jumped into the lagoon after parking his car on the 3rd Mainland Bridge, men of the patrol unit of LASWA swiftly swung into action to rescue the victim but was however found dead.

According to the statement, the man who (name withheld) until his death was a Staff of Radio Nigeria was said to be in the company of his colleagues in the same car on their way to work when he told them he wanted to ease himself.

“On getting out of the car, he was said to have jumped into the lagoon. His lifeless body has been recovered by LASWA team as earlier stated above and handed over to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) at the Ebute Ero Jetty”, the statement said.

It however added that further investigations were ongoing even as it added that the deceased Next of Kin who happened to be his son had been contacted.
