Talent Hunt: Emma Nweke organizes Ogene Music Competition in Anambra

…Presents cash gift to winner, first, second runners up

The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Emma Nweke (Nwachinemelu Awka), has sponsored an Ogene Music Competition for the creative and gifted youths of Awka North and South who are into Ogene music.

The first phase of Ogene Music Competition Fides learnt was held at Mgbakwu Primary School’s field on the eighteenth of December 2018 while that of Awka South was held at Amawbia and at the end three best performed artists were picked from each local government. Those who emerged first, second and third position in competition in their respective local government areas were selected to perform at the grand finale.

Those who participated in the grand finale held at Ndi Ichie Hall located at Umuodika village Awka included Ogene Onyenze South led by Anayo Nwokike from Umuodika village Awka; Ogene Okuko Igbo led by Ifeanyichukwu Eze from Umunnechi village Nibo; Ogene Bobby led by Bobby Onyekwelu from Umueze village Amawbia; Ogene Chijioke led by Chijioke Nwoye from Urum and Ogene Udo led by Anayochukwu Ozoemenam from Amasieke village Mgbakwu.

The six competitors were allowed to perform twice each during the competition after which three best performed artists were picked.

After the presentation by the six presenters, the team of judges comprising Sam Theo; Macson Justice and Princess Nneka Chukwunolum adjudged Ogene Udo Mgbakwu first while Ogene Chijioke and Ogene Okuko Igbo emerged second and third respectively.

Addressing the mammoth crowd who thronged the venue, the sponsor of the competition, Hon. Emma Nweke said he derived joy listening to Ogene music, noting that he was out to ensure that those with gong beating talents would be empowered. He emphasized the importance of culture and tradition, even as he described it as the people’s way of life.

Hon. Nweke who was represented by the former member representing Awka South State Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Kenechukwu Chukwuemeka promised to elaborate on the competition if elected.

In an interview, the organizer of the competition, Comrade Emeka Okeke, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Lordmekins Concept Project thanked the sponsor, Chief Emma Nweke for agreeing to sponsor the event.

He called on others to emulate Chief Emma Nweke whom he described as a lover of youth and talent.

The overall winner received the sum N250,000. 00 while first and second runners up received the sum of N150,000 and the sum of N100,000 respectively.
