…Speaks on why youths man his campaign team

By Abuchi Onwumelu

The Senatorial candidate of Young Progressive Party (YPP) for Anambra South Senatorial District election, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah last Wednesday hosted the members of Coalition of Anambra South Students (COASS) led by Okeke Kenneth Chinedu (Aluta Kendo) at his Umuanuka Otolo Nnewi country home, in Nnewi North Local Government of Anambra State.

The COASS members made up of students of Anambra South extraction schooling in different tertiary institutions across the state were received by the oil magnate who single-handedly constructed an interlock road network powered by 24/7 stable electricity.

Addressing the gathering, the YPP Senatorial candidate thanked the students for finding him worthy of their endorsements and support, saying that he would not betray the confidence reposed in him, even as he said he was going to the senate to push for life enhancing laws that would improve the living condition of his constituents.

The Chairman, Capital Oil and Gas announced that he had appointed youths into various positions in his campaign team to enable them brace up for the future challenges, noting that the youth would occupied prime positions in his agenda.

Ubah who said he married and built his first house at age of 21 urged the COASS members to be firm and steadfast, adding that he was going to the senate to right the wrongs of past and present representatives.

He regretted that some students had formed the habit of running after those he described as selfish, greedy and unskilled politicians, even as he called for immediate change of attitude. The proprietor of Authority radio and publisher of Authority Newspapers assured the group of quality and effective representation.

“I live for the youths; I am a youth. I’m in the street. I feel your pulse. I know what it is like to be jobless and broke. I know the agony parents and guardians pass through just to pay their children and wards school fees. Many of you here are gifted and talented but needed laws that will make you and bring you to limelight. All that will change once I get to the senate. If I get to the senate I’m going to change the narrative. You all will be self-reliant upon graduation. Many of you will be taken away from the streets.

“I have done it before, I will do it again. I have engaged many youths directly and indirectly. A lot of them are on my payroll. More are coming in. I built a world class stadium within the space of two years. I owned a radio and television station. I owned a publishing house. Very soon, building of Ifeanyi Ubah University will commence. In that university there will be everything. You can acquire two different degrees in different disciplines in four years. If that is only thing I deliver as a Senator I will be very happy. Education is key.

“The university will accommodate thousands of youths when completed. I am so passionate about the youths. All my life, I do things differently. I have made enough money. I don’t need constituency funds. I am going to the senate to give back to society. Youths innate potentials will be harnessed”, Ubah concluded.

Earlier in a remark, the National Coordinator of COASS, Comrade Okeke Kenneth Chinedu, thanked Dr. Ubah for the warm reception given to them, noting that they were all out to work and ensure that he emerged victorious come February the 16th.

He assured him of their unalloyed support and loyalty.

In their separate speeches, SUG President, Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Comrade Izuchukwu Akuche; SUG President Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu (COOU), Uli Campus, Comrade Okonkwo Collins, SUG President FCE(T), Umunze, Comrade Ezeabayi Stanley promised to spread the message down to their various schools.

The students’ leaders enjoined other well-meaning Anambra South students to vote massively for Ubah whom they described as a student- friendly politician and a genuine philanthropist.

Sharing of Ubah’s campaign materials, interaction, questions and exchange of pleasantries formed the high point of the occasion.
