Anambra CP wades into communal clash between Omor and Igbakwu communities

…Visits scene of incident for on the spot assessment

In his quest to ensure lasting peace between the Omor and Igbakwu communities in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, CP John Abang has paid a courtesy visit to the Igwe of Omor community, HRH Igwe Oranu Chris Chidume at his Palace where he had an enlarged stakeholders meeting comprising of g government representatives, security agencies, representatives of the warring factions and other prominent persons in the communities.

It will be recalled that a communal clashbroke out on the 13th of July, 2019 between the Umuali Akanator Omor and Ereator Igbakwu communities in Ayamelum LGA of Anambra State occasioned by perennial land dispute between the two neighbouring communities which led to injuries and damage to property.

The situation was subsequently brought under control following prompt response and timely deployment of Police personnel to the area.

However, the Commissioner of Police, CP John Abang invited all the warring factions and other stakeholders in the communities to the State headquarters of the command on the 15th of July, 2019 and brainstormed extensively on the circumstances surrounding the incident and how best to address it in order to find lasting solutions to the problem.

The CP thanked Igwe Chidume for the warm reception accorded him and urged all parties to eschew violence and explore all the legal avenues to resolve their grievances.

Responding, the Igwe Oranusi Chris Chidume assured the CP that the matter would be resolved amicably adding that no such ugly incident would be repeated in the communities again.

The Commissioner of Police later visited the scene of the incident for on the spot assessment before departing back to Awka.
