Fatal crash claims one, injure three along Onitsha–Owerri Expressway

A multiple road crash has occurred in the early hours of today at Obosi, by the flyover, along Owerri-Onitsha Expressway.

According to a statement by Paschal Anigbo on behalf of the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State, Andrew Kumapayi, three (3) vehicles and Six (6) male adults where involved in the crash which claimed the life of one (1) person and leaving three (3) others with varying degrees of injury.

The vehicles involved, according to the statement included; DAF Truck with reg. no. NNE733XA, an Iveco Truck with reg. no. RRN733XA and a Dangote Truck, with registration number removed before the arrival of FRSC rescue team.

“According to an eyewitness accounts, the crash which was as a result of loss of control, occurred around 6.30am. The injured victims were rushed to the hospital and the corpse deposited at the mortuary by a Good Samaritan. Meanwhile, clearing of obstruction and traffic control is ongoing at the scene.

“The Sector Commander Anambra State Sector Command, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi condoles with the family of the dead and wishes the injured victims speedy recovery. He further calls on all road users to always call the FRSC emergency toll free number 122, in the event of any emergency for prompt response to victims of road crashes”, the statement said.
