… Cautions officers against incivility to the public
The Anambra State Police command has expressed its willingness to enforce the nationwide curfew imposed on the nation by President Muhammadu Buhari in the state along with other security agencies.
A statement in Awka on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Haruna Mohammed said that the command sought the cooperation of the citizens and residents alike to adhere strictly with the federal government’s directive.
The statement quoted the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, CP John Abang as having warned the officers and men of the command to be civil to members of the public and also exercise restraint by avoiding use of extreme measures while enforcing the order.
It noted that the Commissioner of Police reassured good people of Anambra State that the command under his watch would remain steadfast and committed in the duty of ensuring public safety and security.
It reads, “The Anambra State Police command wishes to inform the Public that following the directive of the federal government on commencement of nationwide c urfew between 8pm to 6:am with effect from Monday 4th May 2020,the Command and other Security Agencies will enforce to the letter the presidential directive in the State.
“In view of the foregoing, the Command sought the Cooperation of “Ndi Anambra” and residents alike to adhere strictly with the Federal Government directive. The Commissioner of Police CP John B.Abang,fdc equally warned Officers and Men of the Command to be civil to members of the public and also exercise restraint by avoiding use of extreme measures while enforcing the order.
“The Commissioner of Police reassures good people of Anambra State that the Command under his watch will remain steadfast and committed in the duty of ensuring public safety and security.”
It will be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari in a nationwide broadcast on Monday April 27, 2020 on measures to ease the lockdown imposed on Lagos, Ogun and FCT, imposed 8pm to 6am curfew on the nation with effect from May 4, 2020.
