ASATU Orumba North pays courtesy call on Women Affairs Commissioner

The Association of Anambra State Town Unions (ASATU), Orumba North Local Government Area chapter led by its Chairman, Mr. Amaechi Okoli (Ochinanwata), recently, paid a courtesy visit on the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Anambra State, Hon. Ify Obinabo at her office in Awka.

Speaking on the import of the visit, Okoli hinted that the visit which was to congratulate the Commissioner on her appointment described her position as a square peg in a square hole.

He enumerated her achievements and contributions while she served as a two time Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba North Local Government Area and also while she served as the Special Adviser to the former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie M Obiano on Special Duties describing her as a big asset to Orumba North and Anambra State in general.

Mr. Amaechi Okoli who doubles as the President General of the Oko People’s Union (OPU) noted that Ndi Orumba North LGA would always see to the prosperity of the State in all ramifications especially at the grassroot levels while pledging the support of ASATU Orumba North to lofty ideals of the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo.

The Chairman, ASATU, Orumba North, applauded the Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo for ensuring that Orumba North Local Government Area was well represented in terms of appointment to key positions at the state level.

Responding, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon. Ify Obinabo observed that Presidents General were like Governors in their respective towns and as such ought to act like one.

She pointed out that the kind of governance which Mr. Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo preached was that which would see to the progress of communities and charged them to as well live up to expectations.

She appreciated their efforts in ensuring that law and order were being maintained in their respective communities and charged them never to relent in well doing.
