… As Chairman thanks God for rescuing him alive from kidnappers
The leader of the All Christians Practical Praying Band, ACPPB Ufuma in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Elder Dan Nwokolo has advised the Transition Chairman of Orumba North Local Government Area, Hon. Sir Ogo Ekwueme to strive to leave a legacy for which he will be remembered by the time he leaves office.
Nwokolo who offered the advice when Ekwueme, in company of his beautiful wife, Lady Chiaku Ekwueme, paid him a visit at his residence in Ufuma on Tuesday reminded the Chairman of the name his late father, Dr. Alex Ekwueme had built for himself urging him not to allow the inordinate love for money to rubbish the legacy left behind by the late politician.
While insisting that none of the late Alex Ekwueme’s dynasty is hungry, he urged the Chairman to ensure he render service to the people of Orumba North and shun the antics of the Local Government staff whose stock in trade is find a way to corrupt any politician working with them and then enrich themselves.
“Be wary of the antics of the civil servants. Ide (Alex Ekwueme) left a legacy in Nigeria, your mother is a good woman. Don’t let the people know you as someone who loves money.
“I owe a lot to your family and your mother’s family. Whatever I am today, I owe it to your family, your father made me. Whatever I worth today, it’s because of Ide and that’s why I show solidarity to anything that concern Ide family.
“You will always have my loyalty and my support, anyone that fights you is fighting me. I thank God for you”, he said.
While advising him not to play with his aides, he urged him to be open and friendly with them even as he expected them to grow together such that they would always remain friends even if fate separate them.
To the Chairman’s aide who accompanied him on the visit, he said, “Don’t oppose your principal in public no matter what the situation is. Don’t betray yourselves. I have a lot of confidence in you people, try and justify it.”
Responding, Hon. Sir Ekwueme said that he was on the visit to appreciate God with him for rescuing him from the hands of kidnappers who abducted him at his residence about a fortnight ago.
He added that he would be coming from time to time to seek his advice and support to enable him deliver on the mandate given to him by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State.
His words, “We came to bless God with you because from the story you told, we can see that God’s hands were with you. We appreciate God for seeing you through the ordeal and brought you safely back to us.
“I will be coming from time to time to consult with.”
