The Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba North Local Government Area, Hon. Sir Ogo Ekwueme has pledged to support the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in the local government to deliver credible elections.

Ekwueme made the pledge during a courtesy visit led by the Electoral Officer for Orumba North Local Government Area, Mrs. Ifeoma Ezeugwu.

Mrs. Ezeugwu described the commission and local government as partners stating that the local government supports INEC heavily at the grassroot level.

“So, we expect to enjoy that support and whatever we can also do in our efforts to conduct election here and have peace as far as electoral activity is involved, we will not hesitate to do so. We are looking forward to having a good working relationship with you”, she said.

The Mayor expressed his delight in the manner INEC handled the last November governorship election in the state.

“I was even impressed by the way they counted and transmitted the results almost immediately”, he concluded saying “whatever support we can give as a local government, we will give.”
