NANNM Anambra Chapter Re-Elects Onwuka As Chairman

The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, NANNM, Anambra State Chapter, has re-elected Comrade Edith Onwuka as Chairman.

The election which was conducted electronically, saw Mrs. Edith Onwuka, the incumbent Chairman of the association who ran unopposed returned elected with forty-seven votes, Helen Okeke emerged the Vice Chairman of the association with forty-seven votes, Jane Okeke won the office of the Treasurer with forty-six votes, Helen Onwudiwe won the position of the Financial Secretary with forty-six votes, while the Public Relations Officer, Genevieve Ezenwuba won with forty-six votes among others.

Announcing the results, the Returning Officer of the election and Deputy National Secretary of National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Comrade Joe Idege thanked the delegates for the seamless election and urged the winners to work hard to ensure the unity and an all-inclusive administration as well as ensure that the welfare of their members are well taken care of.

The Director of Nursing Services, Anambra State Ministry of Health, Mrs. Perpetual Nzube-Anene expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the exercise, and urged the new executive to ensure that nobody is left behind in the affairs of the association, noting that nurses play a significant role in health care delivery worldwide.

Earlier in her acceptance speech, Mrs. Onwuka thanked members for the confidence reposed in her and promised that her second term in office would spur her to do more for the overall interests and good of their members.

She promised to run an all-inclusive administration to accommodate all their members, even as she called on those who did not win in the election to join hands in moving the association forward as there was a chance for them to win tomorrow.

The exercise took place during the ninth quadrennial delegates conference held in Awka, Anambra State Capital.

Highlights of the exercise was the swearing in of the new executive.
