…Insists Abba Kawu led NWC dissolved, Kwankwaso expelled from the party

The New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP has said that it is not interested in the merger offer by a former Vice President of Nigeria and People’s Democratic Party, PDP Presidential candidate in the 2023 Presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubarka at this point.

Alhaji Atiku Abubarka had earlier on called on the major opposition party to merge to wrestle power from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC ahead of 2027 general election, a call which a faction of NNPP loyal to Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso had embraced with two hands.

However, in a statement issued on Thursday by the National Publicity Secretary of NNPP, Alhaji AbdulRazaq AbdulSalam, NNPP maintained that it was an independent political group adding that it stood firm in its commitment to respect all political parties and refused to engage in merging with any party to combat another.

The Party further revealed that those engaging in the merger talk had been expelled from NNPP, and the party currently faces internal conflicts, pending court resolution.

“Until proven otherwise, these internal matters take precedence. The resolution of BOT remains that the Abba Kawu led NWC is dissolved and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is Expelled from the party.

“While we note the merger proposal, the stance of our party is clear: we are not interested in the merger offer at this point. Thank you for your understanding.
