Officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC have lamented the non-payment of their wage awards as approved by the federal government to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal.
Some of the aggrieved officials of the Corps who spoke exclusively to the Primetime Reporters on Wednesday informed that they only received three months palliative wondering what had happened to that of the remaining months which they claimed had since been paid to other agencies.
They further disclosed that their peculiar and rent subsidy which was approved by the Salaries and Wages Commission since 1st June, 2023 is yet to be implemented by the management of the Corps while agencies like the Nigerian Population Commission, NPC, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC and the Federal Ministry of Health have since implemented theirs with arrears.
Hinting that the officials of the agency, though federal government workers, were receiving the lowest take home pay so far among the Nigerian regimental organizations, the officials lamented that NSCDC was the only paramilitary agency yet to benefit from peculiar and rent subsidy allowance while other agencies had been receiving theirs for the past one year or more.
“Our fate is unknown as we are unaware when we will receive that of the outstanding months as others. Our peculiar and rent subsidy that was approved by the Salaries and Wages Commission since 1st June, 2023 hasn’t been implemented till date with the hope that the Minister of Interior gave us during his presentation in the Brekete Family Radio last year.
“Our morale is getting low because the financial benefits we are hoping to receive haven’t been forthcoming with the economic situation we are facing in the country now.
“So, we appeal to the appropriate authorities to wade into our issue so that we can get our outstanding welfare entitlements as other regimental organizations in Nigeria”, they pleaded.
