Anambra Police arrest suspected armed robber in Onitsha, recover Pistol

The operatives of Operation Puff-Adder in conjunction with patrol team attached to Operation Kpochapu, this morning at about 6.47am, arrested a 35 year old Sunday Onyema of Orlu, Imo State over wrongful possession of firearm and ammunition.

Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police command, SP Haruna Mahammed narrated that the operatives while on stop and search duty at Upper Iweka in Onitsha, intercepted a bus with registration number UKP 108 ZU coming from Asaba.

Mohammed said that after a thorough search, the operatives recovered a Police Beretta pistol with breech number AO-4909Z loaded with seven rounds of life ammunition, expended ammunition and six different handsets in possession of the suspect.

He added that the suspect was assisting the Police with useful information to aid investigation after which he would be charged to court for prosecution.
