The President of the League of Maritime Editors and Publishers, Mr. Kingsley Anaroke yesterday said that the immediate past Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Barr. Hassan Bello played the father figure to all stakeholders in the maritime industry in Nigeria while being legacy driven.

Anaroke who made this assertion in a goodwill message in an event organized in Lagos by the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) to celebrate the achievements of the former NSC boss noted that while many maritime industry CEOs were preoccupied with making “strategic turnaround” of the agencies, Bello was possessed with the passion to turnaround the maritime industry strategically.

He observed that discussing or writing about Hassan Bello felt simplistic even as he posited that it was a big deal because there were many chapters to his towering figure for a prose writer.

“To a poet, he is a figure muse that can inspire many stanzas of didactic poems. To a musical artiste, his consistency in humility and humanity can resonate a pleasant vibe in rhymes and rhythms.

“Using my lens as a critic, the temptation of a good coverage could defeat my goal here. But my modest extracts of his personality traits should suffice for a leadership class”, he said.

Anaroke who is also the Publisher of the MMS Plus newspapers, however described Bello as a big brother and a father, a transformational leader who came, saw it all, may not have conquered all but has left trails of added values in a big shoe.

He listed his humility, ability to nurture and manage relationships, doing good always, gender friendly disposition, be the shield and umbrella as well as his his ability to impact the industry cum community always as some of the take away lessons from Barr. Hassan Bello’s personality.

“We are missing him, I am missing him and the maritime media will miss him even more”, he concluded.
