…As NAFFAC faults claims
The National President, Association of Registered Freight Forwarders of Nigeria (AREFFN), Dr. Frank Ukor has faulted the allegation by the Secretary of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Tincan Island Chapter, Evang. Chuks Daivd Kanikwu that AREFFN has not been fully accredited by the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) saying that he (Kanikwu) was being economical with the truth.
It will be recalled that Kanikwu had earlier in an interview he granted Primetime Reporters recently alleged that AREFFN and two other freight forwarding association had not been fully accredited but only enjoyed provisional accreditation urging them to go and formalize their accreditation.
But in an interview with Primetime Reporters in Lagos, Ukor observed that AREFFN had been fully accredited by the CRFFN since 2012 and was duly issued with the Certificate of Accreditation adding that it was the same person that signed ANLCA and NAGAFF’s (National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders) certificate that signed theirs too.
He presented a copy of a letter dated 28th August, 2012, addressed to the Office of the National President of AREFFN with the heading,” Accreditation of Your Association (AREFFN) By The Council On Monday, 27th August, 2012” and read thus,” It is with great pleasure that I have the honour and privilege to convene to you the decision of the Governing Council at its 18th Meeting (Extra-Ordinary) held on Monday, 27th August, 2012 to accredit your association.
“The accreditation takes effect from Monday, 27th August, 2012. Further details with regards to the induction ceremony will be communicated to you in due course. Accept our congratulations!”
According to Ukor,” initially, we had provisional just like every other ones had provisional before they had full accreditation. So, we are fully accredited, let him still remain in his ignorance, in his fool’s paradise. Let him say whatever he wants”.
On his part, the National President of the National Association of Air Freight Forwarders and Consolidators (NAFFAC), Mr. Chukwuka Agubamah pointed out that the situation in the port industry now did not warrant further bickering while adding that NAFFAC as well as AREFFN was duly accredited by the CRFFN.
He said,” The least we can say now is that NAFFAC has a Certificate of accreditation since 12th August, 2012, so also NCMDLCA and AREFFN. Your talkative interviewee is ignorant”.
