The Federal Government has ordered a comprehensive audit of the Nigerian maritime industry with the sole aim of identifying ways of improving the sector to meet with the current realities in line with the change agenda of the current administration.
The Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi made this disclosure at a meeting with the maritime reporters in Lagos on Sunday.
Amaechi stated that the federal government was determined to bring the Nigerian maritime industry at par with its competitors across the globe adding that government could not afford to deal with polarised associations and organizations in the industry hence the ongoing effort of the government to unify all the warring parties so as to enable it achieve its objectives for the industry.
He called on all the stakeholders to close ranks and work towards re-inventing the sector to meet the expectations of the practitioners as well as that of the world business community.
