Ogidi, Oraukwu, Nkpor and Uke endorse Obiano for second term

The spate of commendations and endorsements trailing the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano whose administration is barely three years in office re-echoed Monday with endorsements of the governor for second term in office by men and women of four communities Ogidi, Oraukwu, Nkpor and Uke towns in Idemmili North Local Government Area.

The endorsements of governor Obiano were garnered in the course of the on-going tour of 179 communities in the state by the wife of the governor, Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano.

Represented by wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oby Okeke on the Idemmili North leg of the tour where Obiano received glowing commendations from most of the speakers and collective voice votes of support at the rallies in the respective towns.

Speaking at Ogidi, President General, Ogidi Community, Chief Chuka Onubogu, told the wife of the governor, “Ogidi has every reason to be happy because the peace that eluded the community for over eighteen years has returned to our town because we now have an Igwe. This was made possible by our hardworking governor Obiano who understands the truth and work for the truth. We have every reason to support him and we wish to assure that we stand with him and support him for second term.”

Also in her welcome address, the Community Woman Leader, Lady Charity Okeke, appreciated the governor for gradually transforming Anambra State and the wife, Osodieme as a woman with a heart of gold.

In her own words, “Your efforts to better the situation of Anambra women are too numerous to mention. Anambra State still needs people like Akpokuodike as their governor for more democratic dividends and we therefore want to use this opportunity to endorse him for second term in office.”

On their part, Oraukwu Community through Chief Sir Patrick Onyeduba, who represented the President General of the town, assured governor Obiano of 100% votes in the town for all the good work he was doing for the state and their community.

Welcoming the wife of the Governor, the General Woman Leader of Oraukwu, Mrs. Nonye Ugodili, commended the governor for appointing Oraukwu sons into his cabinet and for making Owa River bed vegetables especially bitter leaf an export commodity to United Kingdom.

According to her, “we are pleased with Obiano’s government and we endorse him to continue and pray to God to preserve him and his wife.”

Also speaking, an Oraukwu son and Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu said that the Obiano’s administration and the community share a mutual dedication to community development and advancement; he also called on the people to support the governor one hundred percent to continue delivering to Oraukwu and the rest of the state.

At Nkpor, former Chairman of Idemmili North Local Government, Barrister Asha Nnabuife, said that the achievements of the governor speak for itself especially security of lives and property and regular payment of salaries.

He urged the governor to also help the women especially the farmers to get farm produce and called on the people to endorse him to continue in office.

His call was repeated by the Woman Leader of Nkpor, Mrs. Amaka Ejikeme, who confirmed that “we are here to endorse our firm support on the second term bid of Governor Willie Obiano in 2017 Governorship election. Every town in Anambra State is feeling the impact of your pet programme and testimonies are visible and undeniable.”

Not to be outdone, Uke community spoke with one voice at the square that Obiano has brought tremendous development and goodwill to the town and  the State and agreed to support him for another term as governor.

The Uke Community Woman Leader, Dr. Theresa Madukwe commended the governor for what she described as his laudable achievements with N20m Community projects, 4-Pillars of Develop in Agriculture, Oil and Gas,Trade and Commerce and Industrialization  and the Enablers like Security and Education among others.

She however called for the employment of Uke youths and assistance to their farmers.

In her response to the overwhelming endorsements, the Wife of the Deputy Governor thanked the President Generals and Women Leaders of the four towns for their magnanimity and support for the governor and assured that it would spur him to do more for the people.

Mrs. Okeke explained that the tour was initiated by the wife of the governor to reach out to the less privileged at Christmas and touch base with every community, listen to their challenges and take the feedback to the governor.

She also gave assurance that every community would get a fair share of development projects under the Obiano administration.

Mrs. Okeke highlighted the efforts of Mrs. Obiano through her NGO, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFÉ) in helping indigent widows with house, building market toilets and empowerment of over two thousand women and called interested persons in all the communities to take advantage of the CAFÉ training programmes.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs, Dr. Victoria Chikwelu explained to women in the various communities the benefits of the collaboration between her Ministry and CAFÉ to ensure effective mobilization and empowerment of Anambra women to be productive and assist their families.

She commended the governor and his wife for their dedication to Ndi Anambra and called on the communities not to relent in their support and prayers for them.

The tour drew large turn-out in each community with Ndi-Ichie, women groups, youth, dance troupes as well as officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) using the platform to sensitize the indigenes on safety measures on the road and the need to avoid drugs and substance abuse.

Free medical examination and tests were also provided on the spot by Sun Medicals Laboratories to many in collaboration with CAFÉ.
