The General Manager, Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), Mr. Damilola Emmanuel on Thursday said the the Lagos State Government had trained 100 youths at Ijede in Ikorodu area on how to create wealth by recycling water hyacinth. Emmanuel disclosed this during the 5th Edition of Seven-Day Annual Water Hyacinth Recycling Initiative, organised by LASWA in conjunction with Social Enterprise Mitimeth and Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos. About 80 persons have been arrested during the week in Ibadan by the State’s Environmental Task Force for violating the environmental laws. This was revealed by the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Mr. Abiodun Oni who revealed that the Task Team apprehended offenders at Gate, Aleshinloye, Eleyele, Sabo, Apata, Iwo-road, Ojoo, Moniya, U.I-Agbowo, Sango and General Gas areas in Ibadan.
