The Federal Ministry of Transport has commenced a review of employments, placements and promotions embarked upon by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) since 2010. The committee, which is headed by the Ministry’s Director of Human Resources, Mr. Lawal Ibrahim, is expected to determine whether employments, placement and promotions in NIMASA from 2010 to date conformed to the Civil Service procedures and were also in line with the Federal Character Principle. Governor Willie Obiano has extended condolences to former Anambra State Governor, Senator Chris Ngige on the death of his father, Ozo Akunnia Pius Okonkwo Ngige, saying it was a loss for the State as a whole. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) said it had lifted embargo placed on 113 vessels from lifting crude and gas in any of its terminals within Nigerian territorial waters. This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Ohi Alegbe, Group General Manager, Public Affairs of the NNPC, on Thursday, in Lagos State. According to the statement, the lifting of the embargo was subject to the receipt of ‘Letters of Comfort’ from all terminal operators, oil companies and off-takers in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. Newly appointed Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), retired Col. Hameed Ali formally resumes duties yesterday at the Customs Headquarters in Wuse Zone 3, Abuja. His resumption came two weeks after he was appointed to the post by President Muhammadu Buhari.
