The Lagos State command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) yesterday paraded an Alsatian dog named Bullet used for robbery at the Ladipo market area of the state.

Also paraded alongside the dog were two suspects namely Odumade Olajide and Adewuyi Adisa.

Briefing newsmen on the arrest at the command headquarters in Lagos, the acting Commissioner of Police, Lagos state command, Mr. Edgal Imohimi said that the duo of Olajide and Adisa were arrested with the dog and one motorcycle at about 1400hrs at Ladipo market following a distress call.

According to him,”The fact of this case is that these suspects who are local criminals would rob innocent passersby particularly the weaker sex, the women and thereafter, they will set the dog against them and it will be the duty of the dog to chase them away and thereafter, they will climb their motorbike and zoom off to safety.

” Unfortunately for them, our operatives who are all over the state now and who we have charged must give prompt response to all distress calls were able to get there on time while the dog was still attempting to scare away the victim and the operatives were able to arrest them and the dog”.

Responding to questions from the journalists, one of the suspects , Olajide Odumade denied robbing anybody with the said dog adding that they went to buy food for the dog when they were arrested.

He said that having bought the food and was about leaving while his colleague, Adisa was waiting for him and the dog on his motorcycle, the woman accused his of stealing his phone and started shouting at him prompting the dog to start barking at the woman on assumption that the woman was attacking him.

“The dog was barking at the woman who was shouting at me, wanting to attack her but I held the dog back and the woman later started looking for her phone which she eventually saw at her show glass. The SARS operatives parked near the place and when they arrested us, I was the one who voluntarily entered their vehicle before they now brought us to the station and we have been here since last week Tuesday”, he said.

Meanwhile, Lagos state police command has also paraded six suspects in connection with the murder of the Winner of the Gulder Ultimate Search, Mr. Hector Jobarteh in Lagos.

The acting Commissioner of Police, Lagos state, Mr. Edgal Imohimi disclosed that the Uber driver who conveyed the killers of the deceased as well as one of the killers had been arrested even as he added that the phone belonging to the deceased which was taken away from the apartment had also been recovered.

“Five other suspects in connection with the case have also been arrested. One suspect however is still at large but we are closing in on him”, he said.

On the case of the attempted murder of a Reverend Father, the Police boss who stated that while he would not want to comment on the matter at the moment, however informed that the command had made tremendous progress and that he would soon parade all those involved in that dastardly act before Lagosians and indeed all Nigerians.
