The Police in Lagos have arrested one Jelili Lawal, a commercial bus driver, 41 years old for allegedly raping a 78 year old woman.

The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, Mr. Edgal Imohimi who disclosed this in a press briefing at the command’s Headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos on Monday said that the victim had on the 1st of January, 2019, at about 8.00pm approached Jelili, a bus driver at Maryland in Ikeja and told him that she was missing her way and did not know how to find her way to her house in Ketu.

According to the Lagos Police boss, the said Jelili Lawal offered to help her, an offer which delighted the woman and prompted her to enter the bus unaware that Jelili had other intentions.

He observed that the suspect drove the victim to a location in Oloti Village off Adeniyi Jones Ikeja and raped her without regards to her age.

In his words,” While the suspect was at it, the woman let out a cry that attracted someone in the neighbourhood who quickly called the police and directed them to the location where the cry emanated. That was how the police caught the suspect in the act and rescued the old woman who was already bleeding from her private parts as a result of the assault on her dignity.

“The victim has been taken to the hospital and she’s being counseled by trauma specialist.  Meanwhile, the suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigation is over”.

Similarly, the Lagos State Police command has arrested one Samuel Balogun, 17, of No 14 Ademola Abiola Street, Alakuko, Lagos for allegedly defiling a 12 year old girl.
