Police nab two armed robbery suspects in Awka

…Recover two firearms, other incriminating items

In its avowed commitment to stem the tide of crime and other nefarious activities in Anambra state, police operatives attached to Central Police Station (CPS), Awka in conjunction with local vigilante group had at about 8:00pm on February 8, 2021 arrested two armed robbery suspects at Parkers, Ziks Avenue, Awka following a distress call.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police command, CSP Haruna Mohammed who disclosed this in a statement in Awka on Tuesday gave the names of the suspects as Okafor Stanley, 19, of Ezeawulu village, Nibo and Benedith Sunday, 21, of Ifite Village, Awkuzu.

Mohammed disclosed that the suspects allegedly attacked and snatched at gunpoint a tricycle from a Keke rider at Ziks Avenue, Awka.

He added that exhibits recovered in their possessions included two locally made pistols and the snatched tricycle.

“Meanwhile, suspects have voluntarily confessed to the crime and investigation is ongoing after which they would be brought to justice.

“The Command reassure “Ndi Anambra” that it will continue to pursue the criminals from all nooks and crannies in the state until they repent or relocate from the state please”, he said.
